As an important information release device of intelligent transportation system (ITS), the highway LED information board is controlled remotely by the computer in the monitoring center through the integrated communication network to transmit and display all kinds of graphic information. To the driver urgent release of different road and different road conditions and all kinds of traffic information, and traffic laws and regulations, traffic knowledge publicity, so as to effectively divert traffic, promote driving safety.

Most LED panel manufacturers still produce products that use serial communication (RS232 or RS485) technology as communication and configuration communication interfaces. Users must carry a computer that supports serial communication (RS-232/485) interface to the local intelligence board, and then connect the serial communication line to the LED intelligence board to update the information displayed on the intelligence board. In this way, customers will increase a lot of manpower and material resources, reducing the efficiency of information release. At the same time, the LED information board cannot be seamlessly connected with the intelligent transportation system, so the staff must update the display information of the LED information board locally to each information board.

The serial server is connected to the LED screen (information board) through the serial port and sends the display data received from the other end of the network to the LED screen (information board).
